May has been a solid month thus far. Our fishery has finally transitioned into summer mode which makes for an eventful time on the water. I’m running most of my trips about a mile or two off the beach on both private structure and natural reefs. Red Snapper season opened May 7th, so that has been one of the primary target species on our trips. Along with Red Snapper we are catching Amberjack, Triggerfish, Cobia, Mackerel, Sharks, Redfish, and a variety of other stuff. This time of year we do a lot of live bait fishing, but there is also a need to have some artificial lures handy. If you happen to book a day where the weather is nice you can expect to have a pretty decent trip. I have attached some pictures below from some of our most recent trips so that you can get a good idea as to what you’ll be catching when you book a trip with AnglerUp Charters.
