If you look back over our monthly fishing reports you will find a pattern. Each month tends to bring the same patterns as that particular month did in years past. November is no different. Year after year our clients look forward to the month of November because of one reason, and that reason is the Bull Redfish run. This is the only month out of the year that the Bull Redfish migrate into our bay system in schools of thousands. The experience is really once in a lifetime unless of course you are fortunate enough to live in Pensacola Florida. The great thing about targeting these large schools of fish that range in size from 15 to 30 pounds, is you don’t have to get up at the crack of daylight to be successful. The best time of day to catch these monsters are usually mid morning which means you get to sleep in, and enjoy warmer temperatures. The method we use to catch these fish is a form of sight fishing. We watch for the birds, and when we see the birds we know the fish are close by. How this process works is the fish push bait fish to the surface, and the birds hover over the bait fish that are getting pushed to the surface to get a free meal. Anytime you see the birds hovering you know that a large fish is in your near future. Most trips we average at least 10 of these giant Redfish. We had one trip last week where we caught 37. It can really be an eventful time of year.
