Cold and successful was the verdict today at AnglerUp Charters. We left the dock around 8am and headed for Pensacola pass. It was a neap tide today which was something I was a little worried about, and I quickly found out my thoughts were correct. The tide was completely messed up in all our normal fishing spots. If you’re not familiar with a neap tide it is when the gravitational pull from the moon onto the earths surface is at it’s weakest. This causes very little tidal movement and tends to put the fish into a lethargic state. I made the decision to run 3 miles off the beach to a nearshore shipwreck that has proved successful during February in past years. I had yet to fish this area in 2016, but I knew with the tide as bad as it was this would be our only option for success. The strong north east wind made the ride out a little bumpy, but it slicked off nice once we arrived. Just as I suspected the water was very clear and we marked up lots of fish on the bottom machine. It took a second to pinpoint exactly where I wanted to position us but once we were in position it was game on the rest of the day. We spent the entire morning hooked up with Redfish, Red Snapper, Sheepshead, Trigger fish, and b-liners. The extra 15 minute boat ride really paid off on this particular trip. Here are a few pics I snapped from today.
If you’re in the area and looking to get in on some of this action then give me a call or shoot me an email.
See Ya on the water
