April has been a pretty solid month for us. We ran about 30 inshore fishing trips as well as a hand full of beach shark charters. This gives us a lot of momentum moving into the summer. What has been great about the month of April is the fishing has been very easy. Whether the conditions allow us to run offshore or the weather forces us to stay inshore there has always been something to catch. That makes our job very simple. Inshore, the Spanish Mackerel bite has been on fire. We are averaging 10 to 20 big Spanish every morning. We are also seeing a large number of Redfish schools along the beach. Calm weather seems to fire the Redfish up. Every day that we get a light breeze finding a Redfish school seems to be a sure thing. The fish rang in size from 15 to 30 pounds. The trout bite has been pretty hot in the flats and will only get better. If you are a more skilled angler and looking to cast some artificial lures then you have a pretty good shot at hooking up with some nice trout. Offshore the bite has been outstanding. We are still seeing tons of Spanish Mackerel with a few Kings mixed in. There are tons of Bonito to have fun with as well as an occasional Cobia. The bottom fishing offshore has been the best I’ve seen since being a fishing guide. We are limiting out on Vermillion Snapper every time we can make it out. My only hopes are that fishing stays this easy throughout the summer. If this is the case then 2018 will be a breeze for AnglerUp Charters.
