We have officially kicked off the new year with another successful Angler Up Charters fishing trip! Today was interesting because when we arrived at the boat ramp we literally couldn’t see 20 feet in front of us. The fog made the visibility so poor that canceling the trip crossed my mind on several occasions. Looking back I’m delighted we decided to brave the conditions. It took us a little longer than normal to get to reach our first fishing spot. I decided to take it very slow and make sure everyone on the boat was safe. Fog is nothing to make light of. You should never attempt a boat ride in the fog unless you are equipped with a very good GPS unit. Thank god for my Garmin! As we approached our first way point I could already see lots of fish on my sonar. Little did I know that our first stop would also be our only stop for the day. I quickly dropped my Minn Kota I Pilot trolling motor in order to anchor the boat, and I handed each of my clients a fishing rod. Our bait of choice on this particular trip was Berkley Gulp jerk shad and of course live shrimp! It didn’t take long before we were hooked up with a nice 27″ redfish. My crew today are from Michigan and this was their first salt water fishing experience. I do hope they enjoyed the trip because they were an absolute pleasure to fish with. After boating 8 or 10 perfect Redfish the trout showed up. We consistently caught trout the rest of the morning. The fog finally lifted around 11:30, but we had already caught more than enough fish, so we decided to call it a morning. Despite the conditions this ended up being a very successful trip. Today was a treat for me because I got to meet some really nice people and enjoy another beautiful day on Pensacola bay.

I’ve attached a few pics of the day for your enjoyment. See ya on the water
