Sorry that I haven’t posted in quite some time. I have been extremely busy catching fish! This has been one of the best fall and winter seasons since I can remember. Not only has the fishing been fantastic but the weather has cooperated with us which is something we usually don’t get this time of year. For those of you looking to get in on some Pensacola bay winter action then here is what you can expect. As some of you may know, Pensacola bay is one of the best winter redfish areas along the coast. Right now we are in peak season. The bayous are full of menhaden and the redfish are here catching them coming in and out of the bayous with the tide. The fish are in schools of 25 to 1000 fish and the action is usually non stop. The way we target these fish are very simple. We watch for the pelicans diving. The redfish push the baits to the top of the water then the Pelicans dive down to get the bait. Once we see the birds diving we know that the fish are underneath them. It is the most effective way to fish for them this time of year. As far as lure selection goes it really doesn’t matter. These fish are in a feeding frenzy. I like to use a 1/2 oz jig head with a soft plastic of any kind. Color does not matter. The hookup is almost instant if you make a quality cast that lands in the school of fish. The fish have been ranging in size from 25″ to 45″ so whether it’s a long battle your after or just a tasty treat for the dinner table you can have both right now in Pensacola. Give us a call at 850-450-3878 to book your trip today. Whether your staying in Navarre, Pensacola or Perdido key it doesn’t matter. You are within a 25 minute drive from us either way. Here are some pics from some of our most recent trips. I hope you enjoy!
