Fishing in the rain was not something we had planned when heading across the bay on the sunny, Saturday afternoon. We arrived at our first spot eager to catch some big redfish, however, the fish had another plan. We drifted my hot spots for about 45 minutes with nothing to show before deciding to move on. Off in the distance we noticed the sky turning black but thought nothing of it because the weather report called for sunny skies! Within 30 minutes a giant storm formed on top of Pensacola bay and we were stuck right in the middle of it with no where to go. So what did we do? We decided to fish!
I took the guys to a bottom spot of mine about 50 yards from shore and we started dropping down baits. The bite was on fire! We pulled giant snapper, grouper, and flounder as fast as we could put a bait down. I would like to add that we boated the boats personal best flounder which weighed in at 7lbs! All of this happened during the pouring down rain. After two hours of boating one fish after another in the awful weather, the skies cleared and the fish stopped biting. Imagine that? We were all exhausted and soaking wet so we decided to call it a day. It was a cool experience for all of us!
