The summer sure has flown by! I can’t believe we are almost finished with July. I couldn’t have asked for a better season. Our clients have been great and the weather has cooperated…for the most part! In about 15 days the hard part of the year will be over. Hopefully the fishing will stay hot for the latter part of the season.
Right now we are targeting more pelagic type fish like Mackerel, bonito, sharks, cobia, jacks, mahi, and whatever else we can find. The bite sure has been solid lately. This has been one of the easiest summers to charter that I can remember. The light winds are allowing us to get just off the beach and fill our coolers with spanish, kings, cobia, and more. Surprisingly, we are seeing lots of Mahi this year. I have caught a handful on each of my last 4 trips. They are always a nice added bonus to take home and throw on the grill. We are also finding large schools of redfish down the beach. They can be a little spooky so stealth is recommended. Live bait is the key!
