August has been a very interesting month here at AnglerUp Charters. We have already ran over 40 trips as a business and we are only in week three. That’s a lot of time on the water! If you really want to see what’s going on this month I would suggest you check out my videos in the video section on the website, but I will also give you a quick rundown here. We have added a new website this month www.anglerup.com. AnglerUp is our all around outfitters company that does every kind of hunting and fishing the gulf coast has to offer. Check it out to see what excursion you might be interested in. Now that we have that settled lets get into the fishing report.

Inshore fishing here in Pensacola has been better than the offshore fishing as of late. The menhaden are flooding out of the bayous and monster redfish, jacks, sharks, and Tarpon are waiting to ambush them. Menhaden are a small baitfish about 5 inches long that are a favorite of the fish mentioned above. This happens every year during the months of August and September. You can check my videos to exactly what I am talking about. August ins’t a “fill your cooler” month inshore but you definitely have a good shot at a trophy Redfish, Tarpon, or Jack. If you do want some fish to take home and eat there have been plenty of Spanish, and Mangrove Snapper around that are considered high quality table fare. Lets talk about Sharks! August and September is also the best month for Shark fishing here on the Florida gulf coast. If that is something you are interested in then this is the time to do it! You can expect a number of different species of shark from blacktip, Atlantic Sharpnose, and Black Nose Sharks, to the occasional Bull Shark and Tiger Shark. We are also offering land based Shark Charters as well. Check out our new website mentioned above to get the rundown on our land based trips.

Offshore fishing has been hit or miss, but one thing we are catching lots of are Vermillion Snapper. If taking home a box full of tasty Snapper is what you are after then this trip is for you. We are also getting some Triggerfish, Amberjack, Mackerel, False Albacore, and occasional Mahi Mahi on these trips. The offshore bite will only get better as the weather cools down.

Booking a trip is simple. Give us a call or shoot us a text at 850-450-3878. If we don’t answer we will call you right back. Remember, we are a family friendly business that allows kids of all ages to experience the outdoors with us, so don’t hesitate to give us a call.
